Hey all,
I tried a new tactic for destroying an enemy power generator tonight and it worked so well that I thought I would post it.
First I will tell you what didn't work. I approached the target from what I thought was a safe direction and attacked it. As soon as I started firing an enemy NPC aggro'd me and I switched to targeting him. As soon as I did that, another NPC joined the fray and I was quickly incapped and killed.
After cloning, which, since I didn't bind on this planet, left me with only 1/3 of my health, action and mind stats, I decided to try something different.
This second attempt I approached slowly and studied the situation. The target was west of me at a distance of 100 meters. The NPC's were 20 meters north of the target. I quickly moved SW to place the target between myself and the NPC's. Once I started attacking it, the NPC's started moving in my direction. Before they could close within 64 meters, which is the minimum distance an NPC will aggro, I stopped firing on the target and headed west by northwest. The NPC's stopped approximately where I had fired from the before. Once I had the target in between myself and the NPC's again I opened fire and finished it off. Mission complete, 1850 credits and 24 Rebel faction points.
Just one more little tip for when you get into the game. To stop firing on your target, switch your reticle to mouse mode by pressing your alt key then click on the "Peace" button in the upper right of your HUD.
If I can think of any other useful tips I will be sure to let you all know.
Oh here is one more quick tip so that you don't have to go through the whole "cloning with 2/3 stats" mess. Whenever you change planets, be sure to store your clone data at the new planet. It costs 1000 credits, but believe me it is well worth it.
