Hey all,
I had an idea that I bounced off of tael the other day and he seemed to like it, so here goes:
Once we all get to our starting planet, go to the NPC trainers and pick up novice artisan and scout.
I know that these are not what everyone wants to stick to but hear me out.
The amount of resources to make armor, weapons and buildings is enormous. With all of us pitching in for a little while whenever we're in the game, our crafters will be able to outfit us faster and hopefully we'll get a PA hall sooner.
It's just an idea, but I would rather do that than have some members doing nothing but surveying and gathering resources while they are online. I want everyone to have a good time when this thing goes live on the 26th.

One more thing I forgot to mention. These skills can be surrendered whenever our crafters have harvesters in place, so you will still be able to go for your elite professions.

I think it's a good idea Vigow, should we just put our skills in the surveying part of artisan, or carry it over to other parts of artisan to help out.

I would just concentrate on surveying in the beginning. Also scouts will be needed to get all of the hides and bones needed to make bone armor, which is the starting level armor.
We'll just need our artisans to let us know what they need and we can get it.

Note to all smugglers, as you are going to need merchant xp anyway there is no reason not to gain some artisan fairly early on. It is after all dirt cheap to gain the starting skills and the points will not become really tight until far later on.

I don't know that this is necessary. As an architect, I will be heading straight up the Engineering tree without looking back for anything. So I should reach Engineering 3, where you get the first personal extractors, after 4500 experience points. If I understand correctly, that takes roughly 2250 materials. So if just the crafters would help me get these materials, then I might possibly be able to start churning out extractors and wind generators by Friday evening.... Then we assign 2 extractors and a power generator to each person in the guild, and your donation to the crafting department will simply be keeping up the maintenance on your two extractors. I'll take the Harvestor discipline of Architect first, and continue to upgrade your old extractors until I get the best harvestors in the game, then start working on the rest of the Architect field. This way, people can do whatever they want to, and just contribute cash, whether it's tips from entertainment, cash from a destroy mission, or sales of excess goods. And I can get usage XP to help speed the process towards a Guild Hall. Eventually, we crafters will get to the point where we bring in enough cash to pay for our own Harvestors, but for the first few weeks, we'll need the monetary help of the rest of the guild, I beleive.
Of course, if you really want to start as a crafter and help mine with us, we'd be glad to have your help. But I really think it will be a matter of days before we have Harvestors in place. And if everyone allows us to use a few plots in their land allowance and a few credits in maintenance, then we should get a nice flow of resources coming in quite quickly. I just think the combat types will have more fun running a destroy mission for their daily cash contribution than digging in the dirt for their daily material contribution.
Just my 2 credits David

What are some of the best ways to earn credits?

At first, running missions is the best way to earn credits. I recommend jumping in and running Rebel missions so that we can kill two birds with one stone.
Later on you can sell loot on the bazaar, or if Droider or the other artisans don't need all of the resources collected from the harvesters, we can sell the surplus as well.
Just a word of warning though, harvesters have a very high maintenance fee. I don't know how much it is, but by all of the complaining on the beta forum, I would say it is high.

It seems the best way to earn credits right now is by doing missions. You can either do trade missions (go get item from NPC A at point A and take it accross the city/planet/galaxy to NPC B at point B) or destroy missions (proceed to point A and destroy all the creatures and the lair they are guarding). These missions are designed for people that just want to log on for a little while and then log off, so they shouldn't take too long. The harder the mission, the more cash you get, but people generally say doing several cross-town delivery missions make the fastest cash.
Disclaimer: I am not in beta, and these missions may get "balanced" before release. But that's the general consensus of what I've read on the boards and such.

im gonna go straight up the architect as fast as i can, and then wed have like the harvesters in the pa give to the architects and crafters and stuff like that and then we get our weapons made our buildings made and stuff and then were fine on that category. besides the fact that our crafters and architects and harvesters will just need to do a bunch of dilivery missions and make there cash fast.
just my 2 cents hanacca
