The only thing I didn't shatter was the CPU speed, and my processors are 1.2 GHz each. But I have 2 of them, and the game is multi-threaded, so I should be just fine ;D

I just built a new comp for the game, my friends thought I was crazy

I got the AMD Athlon XP 2500 with the Barton Core.
512 ddr333 ram

a 64MB gforce 4 mx 440

I'm not too much of a computer expert, but I think I should be fine.

Smashed? With a GF4??? WHAT?!?!??!?!? Im not sure if your aware of video cards very much, but thats what a lot of my HW knowledge comes from. A GF4 4200 isn't really smashing it, because of 2 things, one, its a TI, and not an FX. The other is that it's not DX9 compatable Thats why I had decided to go with a (yes, i know.... they aren't the best) ATI 9500 instead, pretty much solely because of the DX9 compatability. Its not to say it wont run, but you wont get the 2 new Extra Crunchy special's that come with DX9!! (im sorry if that sounds mean, but my CPU needs to gloat when it can aginst an Intel )

PS to Janel, the only thing i'd recommend you'd upgrade next is a video card, the MX's aren't very good, they are just upgraded GF2's. Go with a FX 4200 (i think thats the one) they are under $100, and they are all you'd ever need, for at least a year, when they'll be as old as what a voodoo card is

I thought Titanium was better than FX

My video card was a last min buy, because my Radeon 7200 I already had wasn't working with my new system. the GForce 4 MX was the best I could find within my budget. I'll pick up a new one in the next couple of months. I shouldn't have any problems with the game though, should I?

You'll be able to run it, just not at high resolution with all the graphics options. You may need to turn off shadows, use lower quality textures, and/or turn the poly count target down a bit, but I don't know that there's a machine out there that will run the game with everything maxed out. In fact, the Dev's have said there isn't, but I think that's an old quote.

Would you really rather the devs waste their time writing a new graphics engine in a year or two, when they could be adding new content to the game? This way the current graphics engine will last through the next few generations of cards (how ever short a graphics card generation is these days), instead of just until DirectX 10 comes out, before the community will be demanding better graphics.

There will be no probelm with you running the game on your card. In fact, just before I got my new ATI 9500, I had an old TnT GF2, 64 Mb, and it worked just fine with all of the games. My only problem was that I couldn't turn dynamic lightning all the way up with particales all the way up, with shadows all the way up.... and so on, if i wanted to get more then 20 fps . But as droider said, you should be able to run the game, but just not with all of the features at full strength.

128 MB Geforce 4 4200 doesn't smah that? It's not the best video card but its a lot better than the requirements!

DirectX 9 does work on my video card because that is what I have. I'm gonna upgrade pretty soon anyways.

Im not saying that DX 9 wont work with your card, but im saying that your card doesn't have the ablility to use the 2 new features introduced in DX9... which i think is Pixel Shader 2.0, and somthing else...
